Funding from The SHINE Initiative will support the Wellness for Life Mobile Health Program as they serve indigent women in need of early detection and preventative health services. The Mobile Health Program is designed to provide primary and secondary early detection services to populations of under-served, uninsured, and culturally and geographically isolated women. It provides free screening mammograms, "Well Woman" exams (including Pap exams and cardiovascular screens) to uninsured and low-income women throughout Tarrant County.
The mobile team travels to all parts of Tarrant County. Through strong collaborative efforts, the program has developed long term and innovative strategies designed to improve access to cancer early detection services, empower women to be self-advocates, and break to the tangible and intangible barriers against women receiving preventative and primary prevention services.
