Funds from The SHINE Initiative will support Computer Skills Training, a 96-hour program designed to give its graduated the computer skills needed to apply for entry level positions in many types of career fields. Job seekers learn how to navigate, understand and create digital content using the internet and email, keyboard, and Microsoft Programs including Word and Excel.
The Ladder Alliance offers women who have been victims of domestic violence or those qualifying as low-income with an opportunity to break the cycle through computer training that can lead to jobs that provide them with economic independence. SHINE's funds will help The Ladder Alliance provide one of the basic needs that are often proves to be a barriers of program attendance- transportation. Transportation assistance, in the form of bus passes and/or pre-paid gas cards will be provided to eligible participants and is paramount to helping students get to class.
